Book a Performance

A live performance of “From Wharf Rats to Lords of the Docks” is an entertaining way to enjoy a fascinating slice of American history and be inspired. Harry’s story does just that – it inspires people to discover their own history and stand up for what’s right in today's world.

We offer a sliding scale of fees depending on your resources, audience size and travel time. The play can be performed anywhere – from a thousand-seat theater to the pulpit of a church, from a national convention to a local conference– and has minimal staging needs. It is usually followed with a dialogue between the audience members and Ian Ruskin.

To learn more about bringing the play to your union, conference, college or university, museum, library or community group, contact us at – ianruskin@theharrybridgesproject.org

In November of 2006, Ian Ruskin performed his one-man play "From Wharf Rats to Lords of the Docks" at the AFL-CIO Headquarters in Washington DC. To read the full review click here.

Richard Trumka, Secretary-Treasurer, AFL-CIO said after a recent performance:
"Ian Rankin's play about Harry Bridges and the West Coast dock workers brings to life the story of one of the most important leaders and one of the most militant unions in American Labor history. While the story primarily covers a period some 50 to 70 years ago, the message applies to the struggles workers face today. I wholeheartedly recommend this play to all trade unionists whether you are a seasoned organizer or just joined your first union."
